Our Story
Valli-Hi Ranches Heritage
Valli-Hi Ranches was established in 1960 when Jerry & Billye Jenkins moved to Idaho with their 6 children to live Jerry’s dream of being a “Cowboy”. Billye’s father William, who ran the large Madsen Rambouillet Sheep operation, assisted in the creation of their cowboy dream, helping Jerry select 8 pure-breed Registered Black Angus cows, the beginnings of our herd.
Jerry purchased 2 seperate properties when they first moved here, one down in the "Valli" and the one where we are now the "Hi" ranch, so he branded his business, Valli-Hi Ranches.

In 1980, their son Bill Jenkins returned home to the family ranch, he tells the story, “I came home from college for the summer, the foreman of the ranch had just moved, and Dad didn’t know how he was going to fill that position. I said “well I can move into the trailer and work for the summer”... 40+ years later... it has been a Long summer!” He fell in love with the lifestyle and continued the dream of raising high quality Black Angus Registered Cattle and he and Candy loved raising their 5 children on the Valli-Hi Angus Ranch.
Bill also started a Custom Hay business putting up hay on over 2000 acres in the Valley for many years. Though we no longer put up hay, we do continue to raise the non-GMO grass and alfalfa hay that we feed to our cattle.
Bill has loved working on Classic Street Rods ever since high-school and his auto shop is his "retirement play-ground", so you'll frequently see him in the shop working on some great old car, bringing it back to life.
Candy enjoys helping in the store and spending time with her many grandchildren. We all agree she is the BEST Grandma and the BEST cook!

Hello! I am Bill & Candy's daughter, Chelsea. I love my Family, the Cattle, Sheep, Garden, and Livin' the Ranch Life. I earned my Bachelors in Animal Science and I love talking about and sharing all I can about raising animals, growing a garden, and building out a ranch store.
In 2016, my husband Brian finished his career education, and we returned to the Treasure Valley. I began helping on the Ranch in a variety of ways; computer work, marketing, starting the beef store, and enjoying working outdoors with the cattle. It is hard and yet satisfying work, I love that my children can be with me and learn and grow up here (though they probably don't always appreciate the hard work ;-).
In 2017, I found a sheep company that had purchased Rambouillet Rams from my great-grandpa and great-great grandpa, and we bought 7 bottle babies from them to start our own little flock. My girls enjoy helping with the sheep and our flock has grown to 30 ewes. We've also had a lot of fun learning the craft of cleaning wool, natural dyes, spinning, and other fiber arts with the wool from our sheep's backs.
Through the years of raising our 6 children we've had many adventures and the Ranch provides a wonderful place for learning, growing, and more adventures!

Healthy, healing foods that are as natural as possible is my goal for what we raise, what we eat, and what we sell.
in 2018 we created the Valli-Hi Meat Store and are excited to offer our Grass & Hay Fed Black Angus Beef & Lamb Meat from our ranch to you! Along with other products we make and produce the kids help grow in our gardens. Brian is our resident BBQ Master and enjoys Smokin' meats in the back yard. You can find some of his seasonings in the store and some recipes in the Ranch Recipes above.
We love supporting other local ranchers and carry their Honey, Beef, Bison, & Pork. The response to our store has been amazing and we are so grateful to all our loyal happy customers. Thank you for Shopping Local!
